About Us

1000 Friends of Wisconsin, Inc., was formed in 1996 by a coalition of conservationists, farmers, local officials, planners, scholars, sportsmen, business leaders and progressive developers.

As Wisconsin's sprawl watchdog, 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, promotes responsible growth that respects taxpayer investments and protects the cultural, environmental and economic resources of our state's urban and rural communities.

1000 Friends works for the reform of land use policies at the state and local levels and also focuses on research, education, outreach and dissemination of information on land use issues.
