About EHU
East High United (EHU) is an organization that emerged from a series of meetings that were held in Spring, 2005, to begin creating an organization that can advocate for and support Madison East High School. Over 60 parents, staff members, and friends of Madison East High School participated in this event. It works in partnership with the Madison East Booster Club and the PTOs organized at the three feeder middle schools for East (Black Hawk, O'Keefe, and Sherman). The organization is envisioned as more of a "PTO plus" rather than a PTO organized along traditional lines. Its members promote East through small working committees organized around specific projects and through individual and group volunteer efforts. The focus on small working groups and volunteer activities reflects our understanding that many people who support East cannot attend the regular monthly meetings. Participants in the April 2005 meeting agreed to forego formalizing the mission statement, by-laws, and elected leadership until the membership includes more representatives of the entire Madison East High community. Membership is open without charge to ANY member of the East High School community - parents, teachers, staff, students, community members. Draft Mission Statement The group discussed a draft mission statement at its April 2005 meeting. The mission statement will not be finalized until the organization is farther along. The draft mission statement reads: The mission of East High United is to:
