Dear Falk Community:

Welcome to the Falk Elementary School PTO! This organization of parents, guardians and teachers work together to promote the educational welfare of the children at Falk Elementary School. Our organization is committed to expanding and enhancing the learning opportunities available to our students.

The school year always exciting and challenging for parents and children alike. What better way to get to know other parents than to join the PTO! The PTO is a great place to share ideas and help our children in the process. The PTO typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 PM in the LMC. Child care is provided at no cost in the gym, currently for children ages 3 and over. At these meetings, current school issues -- both at Falk and in the district -- are discussed, committee reports are presented, and PTO expenditures are reviewed. This year, we are again presenting a "Smarter Parent" topic each month to help you learn about school, your neighborhood and your community. All parents and guardians are invited -- and encouraged -- to attend PTO meetings.

Fundraising events throughout the year enable us to provide services, sponsor events, and help purchase items not ordinarily provided through our the funds allocated by the schoool district to Falk. The PTO sponsors and supports the volunteer staffing of fun events and activities throughout the school year.

My husband and I have been parents at Falk since 1993 (nonstop) and are the parents of 5 daughters, 2 who are currently at Falk (1st and 5th grade) and 3 who have graduated. We have lived in the neighborhood since 1989. We are both products of the Madison schools, both from K-12, and the schools are one of the reasons why we have stayed in Madison. This is my second time as Falk PTO president, the last time was from 1997-99 (when I was pregnant with my now-5th grader)! I have seen a lot of changes at Falk, in the neighborhood, and in Madison throughout the years. Our family has also experienced many struggles because of the economy. I can't contribute financially, but I can contribute with something just as valuable -- my time. This is why I am hoping that I can help make a difference at Falk Elementary School. But I can't do it without you! I know your time is just as valuable as mine, but your time can do so much for your child. There are numerous volunteer opportunities available at Falk, in the classroom, after school, at home and at social and fundraising events during the year. I hope that you will take a moment to explore the possibilities for your involvement this school year. You can make a difference for your child, and all children at Falk Elementary School by participating in the PTO. Please consider filling out the PTO volunteer form.
