Physical Education

Physical Education at Franklin consists of Games, Dance, Gymnastics & Fitness skills. Our focus with the elementary age student is to teach skills in a safe, secure, positive environment. Each skill listed can be performed at different levels of difficulty & with varying degrees of quality. Your child’s progress is evaluated through skills & learning experiences considered developmentally appropriate at grade level & designed to meet the Standards (S) & Benchmarks(B) designed & adopted for Physical Education by the Madison Metropolitan School District.

About Franklin

Location Franklin is in the south-central part of Madison at 305 West Lakeside Street between Park Street and John Nolen Drive. Franklin is a Primary School (Kindergarten-Grade 2)serving the Franklin & Randall communities. Franklin became a Primary School in 1984 as a part of the Madison Integration Plan.

A talented & committed staff has made many innovative curriculum changes to meet the needs of our children. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate with a strong emphasis on an integrated curriculum with full-inclusion of all learners. Math and science follow a process-orientated approach. We are guided in our work by District performance standards, our Comprehensive School Reform (1988) and our current School Improvement Plan.

Class Size Franklin is a SAGE school with average class size at 15 or less students.
