About Us

The overall purpose of the Greater Madison Interreligious Association is to foster the goal of different religious faiths living together harmoniously through:

  1. Education - Provide educational programs by which interested persons can learn about particular faith communities and their respective expressions.

  2. Understanding – Create opportunities and programs that will promote understanding between the various faith communities in the area.

  3. Respect – Generate respect for one another and to honor the legitimacy of religions and faiths in the area.

  4. Support – Create such events, programs, and responses to demonstrate to one another and the larger community our ongoing support for one another.
"As it relates to the purposes of GMIA, the term Interreligious is more precise in its meaning than Interfaith and more relevant to the plurality of religions and not just faiths or belief systems."

Membership

Who can become a Member?
An individual or congregation representative of any faith tradition may become a member of the Association. Members are asked to participate in meetings and activities of the Association.

Are there dues?
Dues will be determined by need and decided by the membership whenever the need arises. At this time there are no set dues, but requests for donations from members are made on an as-needed basis when expenditures are accrued.
