Review of other GMIA activities in 2007 The GMIA website is maintained by Frank Barone. It is an increasingly important means of outreach and increasing GMIA membership. Several GMIA members helped with and participated in the Cosmic Celebration with Mathew Fox, held in the Masonic Temple in March. GMIA was a co-sponsor of this event (???). Unity of Madison was the primary sponsor. It is not known at present whether the event will occur again this year. George Hinger served on the planning committee of an interfaith gathering focused on the environment (The Earth Speaks) in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, in August. There will be another The Earth Speaks conference in William Bay this year on August 18 and 19. It will focus on hunger and water. George and Bob Hanson are involved in planning. Bob reported that he is hoping to include an overnight meditation retreat as part of the conference. The annual GMIA retreat was held on Oct. 5, 2007at the Deer Park Buddhist Center in Oregon, Wisconsin. The Venerable George Churinoff, a monk at Deer Park led a meditation in the morning and participants shared spiritual practices in the afternoon. A wonderful Tibetan lunch was provided by Deer Park. |
