The Habitat ReStore sells quality used and surplus building materials at a fraction of retail prices. Proceeds from the Habitat ReStore fund the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes in the community. To date, the Habitat ReStore has been able to generate enough funds to build 15 additional Habitat for Humanity homes in Dane County. All materials sold by the Habitat ReStore were donated for that purpose -- often from contractors with excess supplies, from demolition crews salvaging reusable materials, or from the general public. In addition The Habitat ReStore helps the environment by diverting tons of usable materials away from landfills. Since opening our doors in 2001 we have diverted 3500 tons of building materials from the landfill. The Habitat ReStore in Madison was the first of its kind in Wisconsin. We are now one of 8 ReStores in the state, and one of over 400 in the US and Canada. The Habitat ReStore is open to the public Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-6pm.
