The sounds and tastes of Africa are coming back to Warner Park as Madison celebrates AFRICA FEST 2009, a colorful and joyful celebration of African heritage and tradition.
African immigrants in the Madison area will gather to sing songs, demonstrate crafts, tell stories, cook everyday and celebratory dishes, illustrate various occupational skills, discuss how they live their daily lives, and address issues of cultural identity, history, and heritage.
Food vendors and vendors of authentic African crafts and wares will be at the perimeter of the main tent, and spread across the park.
African traditional life will be re-enacted in the African village tour, where visitors will learn songs and dances, ask questions, eat foods, and try their hands at traditional skills.
Please come join us at Africa Fest 2009, a Madison summer tradition for the whole family.
