Alzheimer's Family & Caregiver Support Program (AFCSP)
AFCSP offers support and a limited stipend to qualified families caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. To access funds in Dane County, contact our AFCSP Coordinator at 608.441.8420.
Caregiver support groups
There are over 30 different support groups available across all nine counties we serve with convenient locations. Visit the support groups page at our official website for details.
Early stage support and education programs
For people in the early stages of
Alzheimer's or a related dementia, there is the "Crossing Bridges" program. An interview is necessary before participating in this eight-week program. After completing this course, participants can continue to meet together regularly at the "Learning Among Friends" group to discuss topics of their choice and share support.
There is also a 12-week "Meeting of Minds" memory enhancement group for those with mild memory impairment that is held several times a year. The group uses activities, intellectual exercises and tai chi-based movement to help maximize cognitive function and sustain quality of life. Call Jody Curley at 608.661.8427.
Family education
"ABC's of Alzheimer's and Dementia", workshops to help with middle and late stage concerns of Alzheimer's, programs addressing legal issues, full/half day workshops on timely topics throughout the nine counties, and more.
Resource library
Books and videos on a wide variety of issues related to Alzheimer's disease are available for loan at our Madison office.

Resource guides
Lists memory diagnostic clinics, legal services, information referral and assistance, transportation, respite, adult day services, home health, and residential care facilities. Printable guides are available in Word format at our website.
MedicAlert + Safe Return
A nationwide identification program that enables others to identify, locate, and return people with dementia or progressive memory loss who are lost. $49.95 enrollment fee/$25 annual renewal fee. Professional training
Specialized trainings for police, CNAs, case managers, activity professionals, and support group leaders, including "Dementia Specialist: Best Practices for Direct Care Staff", many half-day workshops, and yearly conferences.
Advocacy
An active public policy committee advocates for policies and programs to assist persons with Alzheimer's and their caregivers before state and federal governments. Learn more about advocacy here.
