We all find strength in being part of a group.

Communities in American have a special bond, particularly these days. Whatever makes us a community - the local neighborhood, our culture, the workplace, or a shared interest - binds us closely together. We all find strength in being part of a group. The American Cancer Society is no different; our mission gains strength when communities participate in it.
Your support is vital. When you empower individuals to conquer cancer in your community, it generates a certain energy. The energy to take the next step. To fight this disease. To give back. And that energy spreads through others in the community, pulling us together and building momentum.
Over the years, our work within communities has paid rich dividends. Just a few examples: Breast cancer death rates are falling faster than expected. Lung cancer death rates have taken a downward turn. Deaths from prostate cancer are lower now than they were more than 20 years ago. More people are being diagnosed with colon cancer now - most of them early, when it's most survivable - due in part to greater awareness of colon cancer testing.
While we are proud of this progress, there's still more work to do. At the American Cancer Society, we take our accountability to each of our communities seriously. That is why we will always remain committed to work with people in this country and worldwide to eliminate cancer. To all of you who support this mission as volunteers, donors, staff, and collaborators: Thank you. Together, we will continue our fight until all our communities are cancer-free.
Together, we are more powerful than each could be alone.
