Thai AFS Exchange Students Arrived in the U.S. in mid-August.
|
Imagine making a new home in a foreign country -- the feelings of excitement, expectation, language challenges, and the sense of awe -- as you step off the plane. For more than 2,800 AFS Exchange Students from more than 50 countries like Thailand, Turkey, and Costa Rica, this experience became a reality over August 11-13, as they arrived in the U.S. to spend a year or semester studying in local high schools in communities across the country.
Whether its being a member of the school's Homecoming Court, visiting local historic sites, or volunteering alongside their host families, the possibilities for these students to become immersed in U.S. culture and to educate others about their own, are infinite.
This would not be possible without the support of the incredible Host Families who have graciously opened their hearts and homes to these students. On behalf of AFS-USA and its worldwide partners, thank you, Host Families, for making the dreams of studying abroad a reality for our Class of 2004-2005 AFS Exchange Students.
