The name Altrusa is a derivation of the word "altruism" which is defined as the principle or practice of unselfish concern for or devotion to the welfare of others. Altrusa is an international organization of professionals dedicated to community service.
Our local Madison chapter is dedicated to providing funds for programs, with an emphasis on literacy through grants & scholarships.

Altrusa International provides community service, develops leadership, fosters international understanding and encourages fellowship by an international network of executives and professionals in diversified career classifications.
