What is Attic Angel Association all about?
We're glad you asked!
|
A major focus of the Association is the residential facility, Attic Angel Place, which was completed in 2000. In our ongoing tradition of providing health care options and services to the elderly, we moved from the Attic Angel Health Center and Tower which was located on Segoe Road on the near west side. The Health Center and Tower provided only two levels of care. At Attic Angel Place, there are three levels of care: Health Center; Assisted Living Households and Apartments with Services. The beautifully appointed building and the friendly staff and volunteers provide an atmosphere of relaxed comfort. Numerous programs and events take place in the large Community Room, as well as other, smaller rooms in the building. Many options are available to residents in terms of services, social events and hobbies. Attic Angel Place is located on the far west side near the Beltline and close to banks, shops, theaters and restaurants.
In 2002, construction was begun on a new development called Attic Angel Prairie Point. This development was planned to add another option to the continuum of care. Residents have the security and convenience of a maintained home in a beautiful development not far from Attic Angel Place. They have access to many of the programs and services offered at Attic Angel Place along with the knowledge that they will have priority admission into another level of care if that should become necessary. At Prairie Point, they can enjoy their life, free of the burden of maintaining their yard or shoveling snow. Gardens, of course, are welcome, but not required!
Another facet of Attic Angel Association is outreach. We are committed to improving the quality of life in our community of Dane County. Every year the Community Grants Review committee researches the needs of the community and decides upon one to three beneficiaries for the annual Attic Sale and House & Garden Tour which take place every June. The focus of these events is to raise funds for these beneficiaries. When possible, Attic Angel also provides grants to other community organizations who submit grant proposals. These proposals are accepted up through September 15 annually.
In 2005, publication of a new cookbook, The Collection II~Simple & Elegant Recipes funded the grants given. It is a wonderful book and we post recipes from it and The Collection I, on the website at www.atticangel.org .
Previous community beneficiaries include: East Madison Community Center; Elder Care of Dane County; Madison Community Health Center; Interfaith Hospitality Network; Briarpatch, Inc; Community Housing and Services, Inc.; The Salvation Army's Holly House; and Hospice, Inc.
