About Us

History
IncaBoliviamanta was founded June 12, 2006.

The core group is formed of children and young adults of various ethnic backgrounds bringing Bolivian Folkloric dances to life. group

Costumes
Boliviamanta's costumes are colorful with intricate designs adorned with embroidered paterns of sequence, beads, metallic ribbons and feathers. Most of the costumes are imported from Bolivia as well as designed and hand made by the current Director and co-founder, Cecilia Miranda, whose personal goal and interest is to provide the dancers with a way to build self-esteem and to re-live Bolivian traditions by way of dancing. "Dance is an important part of who we are"

Dances
Inca The dances that Boliviamanta presents are carnival dances, all of which are performed in various carnival like events in Bolivia; particularly in the city of Oruro, where at around 100 different dances are performed in the city's streets in the month of February.

Each dance is traditional, has a story to tell and a history. All members of the dance group are choreographers, many with years of dance experience who teach one another the intricate steps, they learn the story and history behind the dances by way of watching videos and for many taught by their parents.

Performances
Thus far in its short existance, Boliviamanta has performed at local grade, middle and high schools as well as various events and festivals in the Madison area and Chicago.
