A major American exhibition on Sherlock Holmes at Indiana University in 2001 now is available online! The "Bloomington by Gaslight" exhibit displays many of the Sherlock Holmes items featured in that event at the world-famous Lilly Library. Why was this exhibit at IU (located in Bloomington, Indiana)? Because the head librarian at the time, the late David Randall, also was a member of the Baker Street Irregulars, and made it a personal goal to build a major Holmes exhibit for the Lilly collection. That exhibit included, for example, the only surviving letter from Holmes to Watson in a fragment of the manuscript of "Final Problem," original manuscripts by Arthur Conan Doyle, and many other items.
