About Us

The Capitol City Band Association is home to four unique musical performing groups.

The Capitol City Band founded in 1969 and known for concerts-in-the-park, is conducted by Jim Latimer. Concerts are free and open to the public and begin June 13, 2002. Concerts continue each Thursday evening June through August at 7:00 p.m. at the lovely Rennebohm Park in Madison, 115 N. Eau Claire Avenue at the corner of Regent Street and Eau CLaire Avenue. Concerts are in the style of John Philip soUSA and the U.S. Marine Band and feature favorite marches, waltzes, polkas, contemorary, jazz, instrumental, vocal and encore favorites. There's music for everyone. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for listening comfort. The band is available for hire for indoor or outdoor concerts in the park. Check out the schedule of free summer concerts-in-the-park.

The VFW volunteer community band plays September through May and provides a concert band experience for community musicians who wish to continue playing their instruments. The group rehearses the first two Thursdays each month and plays concerts for area senior, retirement and health care centers the last two Thursdays each month. Interested musicians, call 608 835-9861.

Jim Latimer & Friends is a five-piece combo ready to play music for easy listening at cocktail parties, dinners, receptions, dances and more. Available for a fee.
