Eastmorland Neighborhood Social & Playground Fundraiser set for Aug. 16, 2008

ECA is planning a Root Beer Float Social and Eastmorland Playground Fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 16, 1 - 4 p.m., at the Eastmorland Park Shelter, 100 Silver Road, located directly behind Woodman's East. (A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17 at the same time.) We will be serving complimentary hot dogs, chips & root beer floats and are hoping to have a fire engine and police car parked on Silver Road for anyone interested in getting a close-up look at them. We are hoping to have Police and Fire Safety presentations between 1 and 3 p.m. that day. For comfortable seating, please bring your lawn chairs or a blanket. Eating utensils will be provided.

A jar to accept donations to the playground will be available at the event for those wishing to make a contribution. Or, you can send donations directly to The Madison Parks Foundation, Inc. Write on the check's memo line "Eastmorland Park Playground" and mail to:
The Madison Parks Foundation, Inc.
215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Suite 120
Madison, WI 53703

All donations are tax-deductible. If you send a check, watch for a receipt in the mail. The "People for Parks" program will match every donation received by September 2008. All support is deeply appreciated and directly benefits the neighborhood.

Parking for the event is available on Buckingham Lane and Silver Road. Everyone is welcome!

ECA celebrates 50 years, publishes Commemorative Directory

Last year, 2007, marked the Eastmorland Community Association's 50th anniversary. To celebrate, ECA published a 50th Anniversary Commemorative Directory, which was funded in part by the City of Madison Neighborhood Grants Program.

The publication features ECA photos and history, a neighborhood phone directory, complete 2004 neighborhood survey results, and more. If you would like a copy, please contact Patrick Soukup for details.

A 50th anniversary celebration was held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Eastmorland Park. The celebration was also a ribbon cutting for NEW Eastmorland Park playground equipment. Thank you to all who attended for making it such a fun and memorable event. Also, thanks to everyone who donated to the playground equipment, a wonderful and much-appreciated gift to the neighborhood and future generations of children!
