About Us

The Kiwanis Club of Madison East is a service club with a membership of about 30 men and women. It was founded in 1955. In 2002 the club organized Madison East Kiwanis Foundation which grants scholarships to area high school graduates. We are one of 8,223 Kiwanis Clubs worldwide with a total membership of 290,000.

Luncheon meetings are held each Wednesday from 12:05-1:20 pm at the Old Country Buffet at 1745 Parkside Drive just off of East Washington Avenue and feature a variety of speakers who make presentations on subjects that are timely, informative and wide ranging.

OUR MISSION

The Kiwanis Club of Madison East is a diverse group of men and women who dedicate themselves to personal involvement and financial support focused on community needs and to club activities that foster personal growth and build camaraderie.

It is the club's objective to give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life, to encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships, and to promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Club of Madison East encourages quality family volunteer time. Unique to Kiwanis is the opportunity to participate in a service club from birth through life's end. Our youngest honorary member attended her first meeting at eight days old.

These are some of our projects:

* We assist nursing home residents in a game of bingo monthly at City View Nursing Home.

* We take part in the Adopt-a-Highway program, doing clean-up work on a stretch of highway.

* We knit sweaters for the White Cross to keep children warm.

* We support the Atwood Community Center, Briar Patch, Madison East Community Center, Camp Waubeek Easter Seals, Madison Girls Cross Country Banquet, Wisconsin Academic Decatholon, Autistic Child Transport, and the Lakepointe Community Center.

* We help sponsor the Keta School Projects in Ghana, Africa.

* We take part in the Salvation Army Bell Ringing.

* We support Youth for Unnderstanding where students can receive scholarships to study abroad.
