High Quality Websites for Kids

Looking for winter break activities and high quality internet content for kids?

Sample from the Make-A-Flake website.

My wife and I are always (or at least sometimes) looking for ways to get our kids exposed to computer games and activities that teach while being fun and free of advertising. A great source for us has been Little Clickers, a directory of high quality websites for children. Some of the websites are clearly in support of commercial activities (LEGO for example) but they have all been a drastic improvement over Nick Jr. and the like.

The site has organized recommended websites into categories, most of which are areas of interest or topics. "Expert Picks" and "Games Worth Bookmarking" have been really worthwhile. Many of the sites are purely information/graphics oriented and require no special computing capabilities. Those with games or activities may require you to have Flashplayer or Shockwave installed on your computer. These are free plugins and you will typically be directed to the link if you don't currently have them.

I have uploaded links to Little Clickers, as well as direct links to a couple of the websites it contains in the "Related Links" portion of this site (see the left sidebar.) Our daughter has really enjoyed the snowflake-making site.

So when your kids are tired of sledding, skating, or shoveling and have earned some screen time, check it out.

I'd welcome your comments and suggestions. Go to "Contact Us" to reply.
