Volunteer Opportunities
1. Computer Lab Support for ESL Students
Even Start Famility LIteracy Program will open a computer labe at Leopold Elementary School for use by adults and youth. Help is needed in staffing open lab hours as well as in teaching classes.
2. Early Childhood Classroom Volunteers
Assist Early Childhood teacher in implementing age appropriate activities with young children of culturally diverse families. The volunteer will be involved with reading with children, singing with children, and helping the children complete art and craft activities. Ages: 3 - 5
3. Infant and Toddler Classroom Volunteers
Read, talk, sing and play with infants and toddlers to encourage their language developement. It is beneficial for children in this age group to be exposed to Spanish, English, and any other languages you know!
4. Record "Books on Tape:
Creative individuals with a good speaking voice are needed to record "Books on Tape" for young readers. A quiet, convenient location for taping can be arranged. Materials/books provided. Readers in Spanish, Hmong and Albanian also needed!
5. School-Age Classroom Volunteers
The volunteers will assist school age children with homework, and tutor children of limited English families to enhance school achievement. The volunteer will also engage school age children in structured games, and can contribute their own ideas.
