Gold Star Wives
The 59th National Gold Star Wives Convention will be July 6-11, 2004. The public is invited to a Memorial Service for the husbands of the members to be held at 12:00 PM in the rotunda of the Wisconsin State Capitol on Friday, July 9, 2004. The service will have four speakers: Gov. Doyle. State of Wisconsin Veterans Affairs John Scocos, State Representative Terry Musser and State Senator Ron Brown (both chair the Veterans committees). The George & Evelyn Kivela Scholarship
The George & Evelyn Kivela Scholarship Fund was established in December 2000. Recipients must be graduates of Upper Peninsula high schools, must be majoring in Education and must demonstrate financial need. George is a charter lifetime member of FASMW and a 1946 graduate of Northern Michigan University, Marquette.
