Volunteer
Operation Fresh Start (OFS) provides volunteer opportunities of two types: Young people studying to improve literacy, math, other basic academic skills, computer skills, and prepare for GED/HSED tests benefit from one-on-one assistance by qualified tutors. Mentors with specialized skills are also needed to work with individual young people to help them improve interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, personal financial management, and parenting skills. Career guidance, consumer and nutritional education, written driver's license tutoring, and housing counseling are examples of other areas in which mentors can assist young people to become independent and successful adults. OFS is eager to recruit adult volunteer tutors and mentors from all cultural backgrounds who can serve at least one hour per week. Flexible scheduling is possible. To discuss volunteer tutor/mentor options, contact Karen or Julie at 244-4721.
