An update on the trio of bills in the Wisconsin Senate

From the Special Committee of the Legislative Council on Trails

Ken Carpenter

S 264 Expands the current statues that prohibit trespass with ATV's, snowmobiles, or off-road vehicle to apply to all property, rather than just private property. http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2009/data/SB-264.pdf
This bill is on the calendar of the Senate for a vote.

S 265 Provides funding for non-motorized trail maintenance. http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2009/data/SB-265.pdf
This bill was not reported out of committee. The Chairman of this committee Senator Holperin didn't think that the bill would make it out of the finance committee of either the Senate or Assembly. Senator Holperin thinks that recreational trail users should come up with half of the funding requested.

S 266 Creates a non-motorized trail council to carry out studies and make recommendations to the legislature, governor, DNR, and DOT. http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2009/data/SB-266.pdf
Bill as passed the Senate and as been sent to the Assembly committee on Tourism, Recreation and State Properties.
