Computer Lab Instructor
Instruct students in computer lab. Explain how to use "hablemos ingles" (software used to teach English to native Spanish speakers) as well as typing programs. Prefer someone who can set regular hours for a period of time during office hours (m-f 9-5:30).

ESL Teachers
ESL teachers prepare lessons for classes and teach English to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) adults. Volunteers should have majored or minored in English and be respectful of diverse cultures. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm – 2:30pm for intermediate and 4pm – 5:30pm for beginners. Saturday classes are also available from 10am – noon for beginners, intermediate and advance students.

FoodBank Shoppers
FoodBank shoppers are needed to pick food up at the Second Harvest FoodBank for the free meal program and food pantry. Volunteers would use their own vehicle to retrieve and deliver the food to the CMC. Volunteers would receive training on how to shop at the FoodBank and would be provide a shopping list of needed items each time they shop. Volunteer shoppers need to be available in the morning or early afternoon during the work week.

Gardeners
Gardeners make the CMC look beautiful. Our gardeners plant and take care of flowers, cut the lawn, water plants and grass, pick up litter and improve the appearance of our building. Gardeners must attend a new volunteer orientation.

Host Volunteers
Host volunteers assist in the daily operation by being goodwill ambassadors, cleaning, keeping our computer lab open when needed, working in our food pantry and helping out with clerical work. Volunteers are on duty from 11:30a.m until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday from 11:30a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00a.m till 3:00p.m., working in three-hour shifts. There are weekly volunteers as well as substitute positions. Host volunteers must be 16 years of age and must attend an orientation followed by training.

Job Development Volunteers
These volunteers help match skills and interests to employer needs. Volunteers also help develop resumes, preparation for interview and follow up contacts (thank you letters, interview follow up, etc). Job developers assist customers in developing short and long-term job strategies (using the internet, job lead from Job Center, etc.); coaching participants in groups and individually on job search strategies with frequent feedback and encouragement. A large part of these volunteers is to assist customers with overcoming barriers to successful employment: transportation, childcare, employment centered soft skills/interpersonal skills needed for successful co-worker/supervisor communications. Volunteers are available during office hours Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Meal Program Volunteers
These volunteers help prepare or serve a free meal to those in need. Meal Servers are needed every Mon., Wed., and Fri. at 4:00 pm. You may choose one or more times per month -whatever works for your schedule. Servers arrive at the center at 3:30 pm on their scheduled day and help get the serving line ready to serve. They serve the meal from 4-5 pm, and assist with the clean-up. We are always done by 5:30 pm. Meal Cooks prepare the meals for 130 people in a fully commercial kitchen at the Catholic Multicultural Center with food donated from area vendors and/or acquired from the local Foodbank. Cooks need to be available between 10 am and 2pm to prepare the meal. Meals are prepared every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, except major holidays. On average it takes 2-3 hours to prepare the meal. Those interested in this position may volunteer one day a month or more, depending on schedule availability. Most cooks volunteer once a month on the same day, such as the 2nd Wednesday.

Teachers for Literacy in Spanish
Open the world of reading and writing for an illiterate adult Spanish speaker. Classes are one-on-one, we provide the materials.
