The Safety Coalition has portable speeding boards available to reserve at no cost. They are very simple to use and anyone can reserve a board to be placed on their street. There would also have to be someone who would keep track of how fast cars are going with a track sheet provided by the coalition. This is an inexpensive way to continue monitoring traffic and excessive speeding on your block. If you live on a street where this is a problem, together with your neighbors, you can organize your own "Slow Down" and deter drivers from speeding on your street. The more often the boards are set up, the more effective they become. For more information, contact Cheryl Witte at the Safety Coalition at 256-6713.

If you see someone obviously speeding, take note of the license number, decription of the car, location, and date and time of day. Then call the Speeders Hotline at 266- 4624. They will issue a warning letter to the owner of the vehicle. This method will clearly let speeders know that if they travel on our streets, we're watching!

Report speeding violators on-line with the Madison Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Safety Team. There is a simple form to complete with the same information needed as the Speeders Hotline. Go to our links tab on our main site.
