Outdoor Adventure Expo

Join the Indianhead, Superior Lobe, and Chippewa Moraine Chapters at the semi-annual Outdoor Adventure Expo in Minneapolis. Learn about all things outdoors among the exhibits, and visit our trail brothers from the North Country Trail, Superior Hiking Trail, and other Minnesota trails. The three northwest IAT chapters answer questions about the IAT and help raise awareness among potential trail users and volunteers. www.outdooradventureexpo.com

National Trails Day Triple Hike
Date: 6/06/2009
National Trails Day! Join thousands of others and "take to the hiking trail". This is a triple hike opportunity so attend one or all three. All hikes will be lead by knowledgeable volunteers. Bring a lunch and water as well as appropriate hiking shoes. June 6 (rain date June 7) Hike 1: 9:30-11:00 Hike Observatory Hill. Learn the history of John Muir's boyhood days at the Hill, and observe the morning forest edge birds. Hike 2 : 12:00- 1:30 John Muir Park. Explore the boyhood haunts of John Muir, identify prairie plants and grasses, view the plant communities of the park, listen to some of the readings from My Boyhood and Youth. Hike 3: 2:00-3:30 Fox River Refuge. walk the refuge with Fish and Wildlife staff to see prairie restoration efforts, observe flora and fauna and discuss techniques of restoration. Work Day: John Muir Park

Construction in John Muir Memorial Park: regional work group Reconstruction of trail path and puncheons. Place: John Muir Park (Buffalo Township, Marqutte County - County Hwy F, 1.5 miles North of County Hwy O) Time: 9:00am-5:00pm Join members of the county, the Sierra Club, 4H and the Prairie Sands Chapter of the Prairie Enthusiasts to hep re-build the trail and work on the puncheons at John Muir Memorial Park! Bring a lunch, water and your workgear.

Join the Discovery Depot Children's Museum (Portage, WI) for a Family Event at John Muir Park. Hike the historic trail, explore animals of the ice age. More info to come!
