California's BareStage Theatre is now accepting original stage plays of all lengths for production in 2008/2009.

Production slots are still available for the current year!

Scripts ranging from five minutes to three hours are welcome, regardless of any previous production history (or the lack thereof).

Multiple submissions are welcome, and all plays will be evaluated and considered. There are no restrictions on subject matter, strong language, violence, nudity, etc. Go crazy! Just tell us a good story!

One-acts and shorter plays should have minimal set requirements, and casts should be limited to approximately 10 characters. Less is more! Longer plays have no such limitations.

BareStage always provides authors written evaluation of every script they submit; considers all plays for multiple stage, radio and podcast productions; maintains online promotion for all playwrights produced at the theatre; and, offers several annual awards for authors.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

• Please send TWO copies of your script/s (typed scripts only, please, in standard stage play format, bound or stapled securely).
• Don't forget a brief cover letter, telling us a bit about your play and yourself.
• Include a standard SASE for your critiques and letter.
• Include The Proper Evaluation Fee For Your Play(s). The critique fees for submissions are as follows:
  

  SHORT SHORTS: Up to 20 pages = $15
  ONE ACT PLAYS: 21 to 40 pages = $20, 41 to 60 pages = $25
  FULL-LENGTH PLAYS: 61 to 80 pages = $30, 81 to 100 pages = $35, 100 to 120 pages = $40

YES, we are also currently considering audio plays, children's theatre scripts, and mystery dinner plays (follow the same submission guidelines).

We do NOT currently accept email submissions. Scripts will NOT be returned, so do not include return postage for plays.

The BareStage Theatre is a Nonprofit, Tax-exempt Artists' Cooperative that has been staging original plays since 2002. It is a completely volunteer organization which relies entirely on donations, grants, critique fees and admissions to remain Northern California's premiere new works venue.

BareStage currently produces a New Shorts Festival (for plays 20 minutes to an hour in length), its famous Six 15's @ Eight New Plays Festival (for plays up to 20 minutes in length), and an average of six full-length scripts each and every year.
