Footville State Bank & Telephone Company

The Bank building is used as an archive for the area’s local history. The holdings include many photos, books, genealogical material and area scrapbooks, and there are thousands of indexed references for a researcher’s easy access. Some noteworthy holdings include: early township journals, records from Zion Lutheran (Center Township) and Hanover Lutheran churches, collection of Orfordville Journals, history “Orfordville Revisited” complied by Orin Lofthus, “Ventures into Evansville’s past” articles written by Ruth Ann Montgomery and Pet Milk Company history. The bank has the original teller counter and vault.

The telephone office is restored to its original 1914 condition and is used as a “hands on” telephone museum. The Telephone Company was incorporated in 1902 and the switchboard was located in various homes and businesses between 1902 and 1914. This museum has many antique telephone and telegraph displays. The Dial Building built in 1954 to accommodate the dial system is located behind the Telephone office building and is currently used as a meeting for larger groups.
