Welcome to the Madison-Obihiro Sister Cities' community page!

Madison-Obihiro Sister Cities, Inc. was established
to create and maintain a sister city relationship
between Madison, Wisconsin and Obihiro, Japan
and to promote the exchange of information
between our similar communities. The Common
Council officially approved the sistering with
Obihiro, Japan by a resolution December 2, 2003.
The emphasis of this relationship will be on
information and exchanges involving agriculture,
education, health care and wellness, and
veterinary medicine.

The cities of Madison and Obihiro, with their
many similarities, are poised to learn a
great deal from each other through exchanges of
people and ongoing sharing of information.
By creating a wide variety of opportunities
for person-to-person exchange, the alliance
builds strong, cross-cultural relationships that
benefit Madison as much as they do our sister
community.

Sister City relationships foster peace, harmony,
and goodwill between global neighbors.
