The MBS Luther Allison memorial, consisting of 5 park benches and a plaque on a stone, is in Brittingham Park, one of Luthers favorite fishing spots. It is located in the South Park St corner of the park. The Memorial was erected to honor Luther and his connection to the Madison area community and music scene. The dedication was celebrated on August 14, 2004. Special Guest was Luther's son Bernard Allison. http://www.madisonbluessociety.com/lutherded4.htm The memorial was initiated in 1998 by the Luther Allison Madison Memorial Project Committee, which included: Vera Crowell, David Day, Tom Earley, Laura Gallagher, Pat Gallagher, Dave Leucinger, Andy Linderman, Mark Munz, Marc Pesselman, Chuck Prindeville, John Roussos, Tom Sobel, Steve Sperling & Rocky. Luther always gave it his all, both on and off stage. Madison Blues Society is pleased that we could help bring the Memorial about to honor the man and his music. Leave Your Ego. Play the Music. Love the People. - Luther Allison |
