Our Club's History and Current Teams

ABOUT OUR CLUB

The first soccer club in Madison was formed in 1956 by Peter Bostanescu and Keith Binns. The team was known simply as the Madison Soccer Club. In 1970 MSC split into two separate clubs... Madison United became an independent club.

It is now a division of Wisconsin United Athletic Club Inc. a non-profit corporation.

The Wisconsin Rugby Club is also a division of WUAC. If you are a rugby player or fan, you can find their sites at...

Note: ANY DONATIONS TO THE CLUB ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE TO THE EXTEND ALLOWABLE BY THE IRS.

Madison United Soccer Club fields 8 teams during the course of the year; Mens Majors, 1st division & 2nd Division, Womens Open, CoEd, & U23, Over 30 & Over-40 mens teams both outdoors and indoors throughout the seasons.

United men won the State First Division championship in 1980 and then played in the State Major League for 15 years. They withdrew from that league due to high costs and traveling difficulties. In the Fall of 2008, United returned to the State Major League having dominated the local Madison Soccer Association men's league for several years and subsequently attracting many of the best players in town. United also fields excellent teams in the 1at & 2nd Division of the Madison Soccer Association. Both teams are a perennial force every season.

The Madison United women's team has won the State championship several times, and has represented Wisconsin in the national Tournament of Champions.

The United Juniors team was entered last fall (2007) into the second division of the Madison Soccer Association. (At the time of this writing, they were sitting in first place at the end of the fall season).

The United Over 40 team plays recreational soccer, outside during the Summer and indoor during the Winter. This team is very competitive and doesn't loose many games.

And finally, United fields a CoEd team that participates in the local Over 30 CoEd recreational league. This team also looses very few games.

In March of 2008 United formed a strong affiliation with MYSC (Middleton Yahara Soccer Club. This affiliation between the best adult club and the best youth club in the area provides a "cradle to grave" option for all Madison soccer players. It was from this affiliation that United fielded an excellent U23 team this past summer that won the state U23 Championship.
