The Madison United Premier team took on TFC for their second league game on Sunday after a convincing 5-1 win last week. Fielding only 10 players at the start of the game, United opened the scoring off a cross that found Patrick Shumaker on the far side of the box who cleverly headed it far post for a 1-0 early lead. United's man disadvantage turned even worse when right defender Jim Brandon suffered a concussion from a head-to-head collision that kept him out of the rest of the game. TFC took advantage of United's nine players and thin defense with two powerful goals during the middle of the first half. United seemed to keep a good handle on the first half when Dominic Gross fired a shot past the keeper from 25 yards out, but TFC quickly responded with a goal just before the halftime whistle and United went down 2-3 in the first half. Although United got an additional player just before half, another injured United defender, Chase Morgan, kept them at 9 players and down two defenders. The second half saw a few chances for United, but the defense just couldn't hold and three more goals were conceded in the second half. United Premier are now 1-1 for the season. Final Score: United Premier 2 TFC 6 United Juniors won 4-1 in a twilight showdown against Epic FC. Misael Lopez scored first on a beautiful turn in the box. He was involved again on the second goal -- with his back to goal he played the ball back to Germ¡n Gómez Ventura , who struck a powerful slicing shot low and hard into the side netting. Eric Vivier scored the third and fourth goals for the Juniors through grit and determination. His first goal came from cleaning up a rebound from a corner kick and his second came from a blast from outside the 18 yard box. Final Score: United Juniors 4 Epic FC 1
