Closing the achievement gap through information, advocacy, and support. | |
|
Our Mission Our mission is to inform, support, and advocate for students and families of color in the public schools through high school based clusters. The Coalition is a non-profit organization with a dual purpose: 1) to assist families in obtaining the best possible educational experiences and opportunities for their children; and 2) to effect systematic change for the benefit of all children We offer opportunities for involvement at three levels: 1) Receiving/offering assistance one-on-one 2) Attending/serving as an advocate/ally at education-related functions. 3) Working in cooperation with other social-action groups for educational equity.
To fulfill our mission we will: Work with minority issue parent groups in each school. 2004-2005 school year will focus on the secondary schools. Establish student achievement clubs (SAC) in each middle and high school. Make information about the achievement gap available to the public through Presentations, press releases, conferences, and meetings. Sponsor the conference, 'Race and Education: Closing the Achievement Gap' annually in April. |
