Closing the achievement gap through information, advocacy, and support. | |
|
Our mission is to inform, support, and advocate for students and families of African American descent in the public schools.
The Coalition is a non-profit organization with a dual purpose: 1) To establish Black history/culture classes district-wide; 2) To work with Designated Schools each year on closing the academic gap through parent groups controlled by parents and students; 3) To collaborate with parents and the community for meaningful involvement in the education of all African American children. We offer opportunities for involvement at three levels: 1) Receiving/offering assistance one-on-one, or in groups;2) Attending/serving as an advocate/ally at education-related functions; and, 3) Serving as an active member on our Board and on one of the committees. |
