Dane County's
newest Master Gardener (MG) Students
completed their course of
UWEX training in mid July, with their
Graduation Party/BBQ in July.

The next group of students began their
General Master Gardener Class on July 16.
MAMGA supports and encourages their future
volunteer service to the residents of the area.

Congratulations to the
176 Dane County Master Gardeners
who were certified by the
University of Wisconsin-Extension
to serve in the program in 2008.

A big THANK YOU to all who helped serve the 14,285 reported hours during the Sept 2006 to Aug 2007 period. Your volunteer service hours provided the equivalent of $278,265.25* back to Dane County in community horticulture education and services.

Continuing Education is a very important component of the program. This past year you earned 4,063 hours, or the equivalent of nearly two years of 40 hour work weeks. This is a very impressive commitment and provides Dane County residents a trust of your presentations and answers to their gardening questions. (* using an estimated dollar value of volunteer time of $18.77 per hour as calculated by Independent Sector)
