Adopting & Fostering
Adopting and fostering animals from MAPPAR
|
If you see an animal you are interested in visiting (see animals available for adoption) AND (see more animals available for adoption), please email us at info@mappar.org just to make sure that animal is still available. Meanwhile, print out the adoption application .pdf. (PLEASE USE ADOPTION APPLICATION FOR FOSTERING.)
In addition to the above pre-filled (by you) adoption application, you will need you to bring with you:
If you own your home:
- Proof of home ownership. A mortgage statement or water bill.
- Current vaccination records for any pets already in the household and/or name and phone number of veterinarian.
- For cats and small animals: A carrier, if you plan to take your pet home that day.
- All family members who live in the home.
If you rent:
- Proof of landlord approval for pets (a copy of your lease agreement) and/or landlord's phone number.
- Current vaccination records for any pets already in the household and/or name and phone number of veterinarian.
- For cats and small animals: A carrier, if you plan to take your pet home that day.
- All family members who live in the home.
The Process:
- Look for your new friend on our website, make an appointment to see them.
- Meet with an adoption counselor to discuss the type of animal you are looking for.
- Fill out an adoption application (download now, print and mail or make appointment and bring with you).
- Select which animal(s) you are interested in.
- Meet with the animal(s) you are interested in.
- Request a cat test (if applicable - if you are adopting a dog and have cats at home).
- For cats, if we've been able to check with your vet and landlord (if applicable) you may be able to take your new pet home that day!
- For dogs, we ask that you make a second visit to take your pet home
- **Please Note: You must pre-schedule an appointment, in order to make sure a volunteer can serve you.**
