Director's Message - Oct. 2003

Excerpts

Erv Carpenter, Director
32ð Madison Masonic Learning Center for Children, Inc

The Madison Learning Center will be servicing 32 students during our Academic 2003-2004 session. We have 12 students on our waiting list, and 9 more are in the application process. We have six tutoring rooms, five certified tutors, six volunteer tutor/trainees, one Testing Clinician, and one secretary.

Erv Carpenter will be instructing a course entitled, An Introduction to the Orton-Gillingham Approach to Teaching Dyslexic/Learning Disabled Children. This is the first in a series of three courses that will eventually bring more volunteer tutors into our system. This course is open to educators and para-educators seeking Orton Gillingham training and certification. Each credited course will give the student 15 hours toward the Orton Gillingham certification. This course will be taught on October 17-18, at Dodgeville High School.
