Request for Memorabilia

02/10/2004

In conjunction with our historical theme this year about the early schools of McFarland, we are asking for your support. We are looking for any kind of memorabilia from the late 1800's and any part of the 1900's that is related to education in our community.

We are in need of photographs of classes, teachers and principals, school boards, school workers, buildings and school activities of all kinds. We're interested in pictures that feature special school events, music programs, athletic events, graduation or just everyday happenings. We'd love to make copies of these precious photographs for our records and get back your originals as soon as possible.

We are also looking for any kind of artifact that relates to the story about the early school days of McFarland that could be loaned to us for a brief time. Do you have any kind of school furniture such as an old desk, chair or table, map or globe? Maybe you've saved a special yearbook, graduation certificate, medal or award. We are also interested in old clothing for children and adults, especially uniforms for musicians or athletes?

Please call Wes Licht or anyone on the Board of Directors if you can lend a hand to help us preserve and promote the interesting history of McFarland.
