Mission The mission of the Middleton Rugby Club is to promote the sport of rugby to high school aged youth by promoting safety, maximizing participant enjoyment, providing a sound knowledge of the game, and upholding the highest sportsmanship standards. History The history began in 2005 when the Middleton Rugby Club was officially formed, joining the Badgerland Conference, which includes the following high schools: Madison LaFollette, Madison West, Madison East, Elkhorn, Lake Country, Waukesha West, and Kettle Moraine. Coaching Staff Paul Stroede is the co-coach of the MRC, instructing the backs. He has been a player for the Wisconsin Rugby Club since 1996 and was part of their 1998 Division 2 National Champion Team. Paul started his rugby career playing for the University of Wisconsin, Madison. For the past two years, he has coached the Wisconsin Men's Select Side and advanced them to the top tier of the competition. In addition to coaching, Paul is a Loan Officer at MortgageLink in Middleton. Nic Tyson is the co-coach of the MRC. Nic is the forwards coach who began with Middleton in the spring of 2006. He started his rugby career at St. John's Northwestern and continued playing at UW-Madison. Nic now plays with the Wisconsin Rugby Club, has played with the Midwest Thunderbirds the past three years, and is in the USA Eagles player pool. At times there will be other coaches from the Wisconsin Men's team at the practices. |
