2009 Spotter Training - Hosted by MidWest SSTRC, Inc.
Date: 3/25/2009
Through: 3/25/2009

On Tuesday, March 25th, Mr. Rusty Kapela from the National Weather Service will talk about severe weather spotting. During his two hour Power Point presentation he will teach attendees what to look for, what to report and what not to report during severe storms. He will show examples of tornadoes and tornado look-a-likes, funnel clouds and much more. The training is both educational and fun.

The community has an ongoing need for trained spotters to help the weather service issue timely warnings. If you are interested in learning more and in helping your community, please join us. It's free!

Training will be held at the Fitchburg Community Center, 5510 Lacy Rd in Fitchburg, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM and is hosted by the MidWest Severe Storm Tracking & Response Center, Inc.

Wednesday Night Net
Date: 4/15/2009

Every Wednesday night (weather permitting), we hold weekly radio nets for people to check-in and practice transmitting information in the TLCS format. TLCS stands for...

Time: Giving your current time
Location: Where you are reporting from
Condition: What is the weather like
Source: Your call sign and/or MidWest number

In addition to getting in some good practice, you also get a chance to test your equipment.

Check-ins begin at 7PM on the ham radio side on 444.375 MHz.

Then again at 7:30PM on the business band side on 451.275MHz.

Please join us and keep current!
