The importance of God (Allah) in a Muslim's life.
By now you have heard that Islam means..."Peace as well as Submission;"thusly, the life of a Muslim is focused on the transaction of Submitting one's self Peacefully to the will of The One God.So it should first be understood that Islam is the Life Transaction and the Muslim is the the one in the action of peacefully submitting. The God or in Arabic Allah; meaning..."One - Singular - free from partners of any type,"is The God of all creation. The Creator of all things. It is Allah who has made the Sun, Moon , and Stars. It is Allah who brings the Sun from the East and sets it in the West. The God who grants all Sustenance; air, water, light, etc. It is the One God who has sent Prophets and Messengers throughout time to help guide mankind.
So it can be quickly understood why God holds such a special place in the life of a Muslim. But recognizing that God continues to provided for us, leads to a natural question in our minds "what should we do for The God?" There is a famous teaching in Islam:"God Created us so that He might be known."The life of a Muslim is based on trying to please God and develop an intimate relationship with Him so that one may gain in degrees of respect and friendship with The All Merciful. This is the same message that was sent with all of the Prophets of God,"Worship Only The One God!!!"
The person who is in this process of peaceful self-submission will look to establish worship of The God on a regular basis. This worship can be simply striving to recognize the Ultimate Oneness of God, through looking for the attributes of the existence of God.These are sometimes the simple things in life, seeing the change of seasons and reflecting on how that directly relates to the existence of God being The Maintainer, The Living, and The Sustainer. Or enjoying a wild flower patch with all of the beautiful variety and remembering that God is The Creator of these greatly divers wonders. Even more informal than that is doing kind acts with the intention of pleasing God, this is also understood as a form of worship in Islam.
Then there is formal worship, that is to follow the prescribed prayer that
Muhammad; the final Prophet to all mankind, learned from the Angels. In this formal act of worship the believer first makes an intention to fulfill a prescribed prayer and then cleans up with water too. Then placing ones self in the desired direction, proclaiming "God is Great!" Followed by some recitation of the Final Testament, changing of positions: standing, bowing, full prostration. You can see that this is an important part of the Muslim's life because there is a need to put effort into it and always room to improve it as well. This is a big part of the life transaction, the created recognizing The Creator. In the full prostration, with ones face on the floor, the believer says silently "Glory to God The High!!!" This is a formal act of worship; there is preparation, concentration, and a clear intention to please The All Merciful, The Most Merciful Lord of all the worlds known and unknown.
The life of a Muslim is in all ways inclusive of God. The Muslim begins with "In the name of God" and ends with "praise be to God".For a Muslim the focus of life is to look to find ways to make God more a part of one's life. Muslims seek the Love of God by sharing in love and recognizing its source. To go forward applying good judgments and kindness as one would hope to receive the same from The King of The Day of Judgment. It is clear to Muslim's that God holds a Majestic position as well as Compassionate. So you see the balance that is struck in the life of a Muslim: a Muslim must step one foot with hope and the other with fear. The fear being a respectful reverence for the great splendor of The Loving One, the hope is that on the final day God will be pleased with us or at least grant us mercy and forgiveness.Yet, continuously the Muslim will be striving for the highest goal,"Nearness to God(Allah)."
