The tropical Bolz Conservatory houses over 750 plants representing over 70 families and over 550 different species and cultivars. These plants are native to tropical and sub-tropical regions throughout the world. The temperature in the Conservatory is maintained between 65 degrees F and 80 degrees F (between 18C and 26C), and may warm to 95 degrees F (35C) on hot summer days. The relative humidity is kept above 60% year-round. The Bolz Conservatory's collection of plants mimics the great diversity of plants that exists within the world's tropical forests. From the towering palms to the huge-leafed Xanthosoma, look for both new and familiar plants. Many common food and spice plants are found in the Conservatory as well. The Conservatory is also home to wildlife including: free-flying Canaries, Waxbills, Coturnix Quail, goldfish, koi, tree frogs, and House and Mediterranean geckos. The Conservatory is open daily from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission to the Conservatory is $1. |
