About Us
Purpose
Current voting members include the South Metropolitan Planning Council, South Metropolitan Business Association, South Madison Health and Family Center Harambee, South Madison Housing Team, South Madison Rotary, Greenbush Neighborhood Association, University of Wisconsin, Meriter Hospital, Saint Marys Hospital, Madison Gas & Electric, Park Street Urban Design Team, UW School of Human Ecology Family Voices Project. New members are sponsored by a current member and approved by a majority vote Goals The primary goal of the Park Street Partners is the physical and economic revitalization of the Park Street corridor. The specific annual goals shall be revisited and revised each year to be current with existing needs and resources. Park Street Partners goals include the stewardship of on-going public and private initiatives to ensure they meet the vision laid out in the Park Street Revitalization: Possibilities to Reality Plan as well as undertaking specific projects that will be a catalyst for revitalization. Park Street Partners 2005/2006 Goals Affordable Housing: Support and facilitate programs and projects that promote the development of and access to affordable housing in the Park Street neighborhoods. Specific activities include:
Major Development Projects: Actively monitor on-going development projects within the Park Street Corridor and surrounding neighborhoods to ensure they meet the recommendations and vision laid out in Park Street: Possibilities to Reality Plan and the South Madison Neighborhood Plan as well as other implementation plans. Specific projects include the Villager Mall redevelopment, Wingra Triangle/Morningstar Dairy redevelopment, PDQ/Park Bank development. Park Street Corridor Streetscaping and Landscaping: Work with the alders and city staff to coordinate the design and implementation of the streetscaping and landscaping of the various segments of the Park Street Corridor to ensure that they are consistent with the recommendations in the Park Street: Possibilities to Reality Plan and the South Madison Neighborhood Plan. Specific recommendations include:
2005/2006 Projects - Outreach and capacity building through implementation of the storybook, Celebrate Park Street: Madison's Vibrant Gateway - Façade improvement workshop for Park Street small business owners - Spring median planting along Park Street |
