Park Street Neighborhoods are home to three of the major medical institutions - Saint Marys Hospital, Meriter Hospital, and Dean Clinics - and are the gateway to the University of Wisconsin knowledge base to the north and Fitchburg's growing biotechnology community to the south. A partnership of these Madison health care providers will put Park Street at the center of a national medical center district, the Health Care Main Street. New medical center facilities and service businesses are clustered along Park Street and University Avenue, creating a unified, user-friendly environment, new businesses and jobs, and efficient live/work neighborhoods. New developments would be designed to meet many community needs, including those of health care providers and their employees. In addition, the biomedical Science Team will leverage the collaboration between the private sector and the University to develop and produce new biomedical tools and therapies, and create new, well-paying jobs in the neighborhood.
