Become a Treatment Foster ParentWhat is it? Some children in foster care have emotional, behavioral and or medical needs that require care by highly trained and supported foster families. In Wisconsin these families receive a special foster care license that requires the family to engage in continuing education and training and to work closely with a PATH social worker to create a structured, nurturing home environment that responds to the child's treatment needs. Why be a Treatment Foster Parent? Research indicates that children make the most of treatment when it is provided in a family environment as a opposed to a institutional setting. Treatment foster parents have the opportunity to help a child reach their greatest potential, helping to make our world a better place one child at a time. PATH Wisconsin Inc., recruits people who have the capacity to provide care and treatment to children who live in their homes. Each foster parent participates in regular support group meetings and must attend at least 30 hours of education each year. Foster parents must also be open to discussing the impact the child is having on their own family life and most importantly, they must be able to adapt their parenting strategies to meet the needs of the child.
Are you ready for the most rewarding challenge of your life? If you are ready to fill out an application, select Foster Parent Forms on the left side of webpage.
