Perinatal Mood Disorders Initiative Since 2002, the Perinatal Foundation has spearheaded a multi-year "Perinatal Mood Disoders Initiative." The initiative has included several phases including a public awareness campaign, a "best practices" symposium, a set of regional conferences aimed at educating health care providers on routine screening and identification of women at risk for postpartum depression, and the production of materials for consumers in both english and spanish. The Perinatal Foundation continues to expand on the Perinatal Mood Disorders Initiative through 2005 and beyond. Simple Things You Can Do tear-off sheets The tear-off sheets provide suggestions about "simple things" women can do to improve their mental and physical health in the areas of sleep, nutrition, exercise, emotional and physical support, and referral resources. Available in both English and Spanish. Simple Things You Can Do poster A short list of ideas to help women experiencing depression feel better and relate more positively to their baby and family. The poster is a great resource for clinics, offices, child care or community centers, schools, public libraries and churches--all the places that new moms visit.
