Quann Community Garden | |
|
Now through mid-November, 2009, come and see an outdoor art exhibit at the Jess Bullen Orchard & Quiet Garden, located across the gravel road from Quann Community Garden, 204 Bram Street in Madison. The exhibit features photographs of gardeners alongside gardeners' quotations about why gardening at Quann Community Garden is important to them. The exhibit is bilingual (English and Spanish). While the images are of Quann gardeners, the quotes are universal and reveal things that happen at a community garden beyond growing veggies. Part of one of the quotes on this photo: [Gardening is] like a prayer to me.... It's about getting in touch with this reality.... You can't text message a tomato! You have to let the tomato speak on its own terms. Artists Julia Steege and Elizabeth Henley created this exhibit. Come check it out!
This project is supported by the Wisconsin Humanities Council, the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission, Vandewalle and Associates, American Transmission Company, and generous individual donors. |
