Safe Communities is an organization of over 350 active individuals and member organizations. Law enforcement, emergency service providers, public health and hospitals, education, government officials and policy makers, local businesses, coalitions or advocacy groups, community and neighborhood organizations, media, service organizations, and the faith community are all joining forces under the Coalition umbrella.
Here are the benefits:
Safer neighborhoods and communities. Traffic safety, keeping children and older adults injury-free, and reducing the tragedy of suicide are all on the Coalition agenda. Through annual projects such as Walk Our Children to School Week and
Safety Town, the Coalition is making Madison neighborhood neighborhoods and Dane County communities safer places.
Opportunities to join forces with diverse people and organizations to prevent injuries. Whether you're a safety professional or simply someone who wants to slow traffic on your street, there is a place for you in Safe Communities. As an active Coalition member, you will work side by side with law enforcement, neighborhood leaders, public officials, business people, and non-profit organization managers on projects that truly make a difference in our community.
Funding for your projects. Each year, Safe Communities makes grants available to member organizations to conduct injury prevention projects. Yard signs and educational materials about issues of concern to your community are eligible projects, among others. Consider ways in which the Coalition could support your efforts!
