About Us
Regular meetings are held at the Senior Center in the Fitchburg Community Center (FCC), 5510 Lacy Road, Fitchburg, WI, starting at 1:00pm.
To get there, take the Beltline to Fish Hatchery Road and go South. Turn Left on Lacy Road and then left into the driveway. The Senior Center is in the back, on the lower level.
Admission is currently free for all attendees, thanks to our fundraising efforts at our Mad City Model Railroad Show in February each year.
Our regular meets feature one prototype and one model clinic, model and photography popular vote contests, layout tours and door prizes.
Our meeting format in January is a little different than a regular meet. The January meet is the Annual Rail School. This meet is in the upstairs meeting room at FCC. Several clinicians will meet and present techniques and information in more of a trade show approach (each clinician has a table to work from and demonstrate any appropriate techniques). The highlight of the Rail School is the Model Railroad Make & Take, where attendees will get the opportunity to actually make and take home some models.
On even-numbered years, the December meet is also a little different format than a regular meet. These are the biannual auctions where SCWD members bring in models and equipment that they no longer want or need to put them up for auction to the general attendance. The next auction will be at the December meet of the 2000-2001 season. On auction meets, there are no clinics, layout tours or door prizes.
Also note: This information may be superceded by information printed in the Bad Order. If you are in doubt about any part of this schedule, please contact the appropriate committee chair.
