About Us

Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin was established in 1986 by volunteers who wanted to become the link between those who were hungry and food that was going to waste. These volunteers later become the founding Board of Directors.

The food bank is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit food distribution center dedicated to feeding hungry people in southern Wisconsin. It acquires donated food and other products and distributes them to qualified nonprofit organizations operating charitable food programs. It provides these programs with assistance, acts as a resource for information related to fighting hunger, and develops partnerships with those who work on hunger issues.

Since 1986, the foodbank has distributed over 28 million pounds of food to those in need and enlightened the community to the reality that hunger exists and must be eliminated from the lives of each man, woman and child.
